In the early 1820s, ex-convict entrepreneur and gin distiller Robert Cooper set out to build a grand Georgian estate at the top of Paddington's ridgeline.
He went on to name the area Paddington after a London borough and called his estate Juniper Hall. The estate remains Paddington's oldest home.
