My internship this summer
In pursuit of figuring out what I want to do for a career, I went looking at an aray of different internships. I had a couple ideas of what I wanted and wished I could do but most of them, where not super realistic since hadn't been through any upper level marketing, finance or accounting classes yet. I was actually starting to get a little worried that I might not be able to find one by my schools deadline
but i found my answer through a very close friend of mine. Megan Middleton
was the answer! ha ha ... she helped me connect with the right people in an industry I loved... Skiing.
I met the Marketing manager for LINE skis, Fulltilt boots, and Planet Earth Clothing Co, the stars aligned and I was accepted. It turned out to be everything that I could have asked for. It wasn't hard to feel the motivation to market for the company. However, there was a lot to be learned. Sitting on a chair lift and telling other riders that, "these skis are sick" was the only previous experience that I had with marketing for LINE, but at least I believed it... There were a lot of great experiences throughout it all but my all time favorite was getting to work with Poor Boyz Productions (PBP).
I wish I could say i helped film the movie but I was happy enough to coordinate the PBP film crew with the production of the skis so they could make this intro scene for the film.
Since I was familiar with the shop and had already made a couple pair of skis with Aaron (featured in the film) I helped with the coordinating of this trailer. By making suggestions of how to capture the whole story I helped the crew make sure they caught all the action and ensured they where in the right place at the right time.
